Harriet Louise (Casper) Honderick, 68, LaCrosse, joined her parents in heaven on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

She was born on December 14, 1955, in Hays, the daughter of Harry and Drucella (Becker) Casper. She grew up in Plainville with her brothers, Harry Casper, Bruce Casper, Richard Casper, and Brian Hashenberger. She was a resident of Rush County for many years. A graduate of Plainville High School, Plainville, Harriet received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Pratt Community College, Pratt. She worked for a time at Larned State Hospital as a pharmacy technician. Later, Harriet worked as an agent for Brock Whitmore State Farm Insurance, LaCrosse.

In September 1973, she married John J. Stout. Four children were born to this union: Steven, Carissa, LaShelle, and Jennifer. Harriet and John later divorced.

On July 23, 1993, she married David H. Honderick in Leonard, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2003.

She leaves behind her longtime boyfriend, Ray Buttke; her cherished Pekingese, Hope; one son, Steven Stout (Lynn), Hebron, Neb.; three daughters, Carissa Gentry (Terry), Louisville, Ky., LaShelle Schroter (Bill), LaCrosse, and Jennifer Stout, Hoisington; one step-son, Craig Honderick, Sanger, Texas; one step-daughter, Conni Souder, Gordonville, Texas; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Harry Casper, Bruce Casper, and Brian Hashenberger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John J. Stout; her second husband, David H. Honderick; and her brother, Richard Casper.

Harriet’s life was celebrated on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Sonny’s Bar & Grill, Liebenthal.

Per her wishes, Harriet’s family will be scattering her remains privately at a later date.
