Lois E. Cooper, 90, of Lucas, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson.

She was born on November 20, 1933, in rural Osborne County, Kansas, the daughter of Ray and Mildred (Smith) Robinson. She grew up on the family farm north of Lucas and graduated from Lucas High School in the Class of 1951 and attended one year of college at Ft. Hays State University.

She was united in marriage to M. Francis “Sonny” Cooper on August 10, 1952, in Lucas, Kansas. From this union, Lois and Sonny were blessed with two daughters, Marian and Mona.

She worked as a teller at the Lucas and Sylvan banks and at the insurance and real estate agencies. After leaving the Sylvan bank she opened North Star Realty. This was her pride and joy as she enjoyed helping people through the real estate process.

Lois was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, President of the Golden Age Center, and Lucas Historical Society Charter member. She enjoyed learning and sharing Lucas's history, the Lucas Historical Society museum, and her latest passion. When she was resting, she enjoyed gardening, sitting on her deck, and discussing farming. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her surviving family includes her daughters Marian Kay Gier and husband Leo of Osborne and Mona Ray Kaufman and husband Randy of Lucas; grandchildren Garred Gier and Rhett Kaufman, and wife Mary and Rawly Kaufman; and great-granddaughter Hailey Gier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sonny on July 05, 2020, brother Wendell Robinson, grandson George Gier, and great-grandson Cooper Gier.
