* This doesn’t happen very often, but this year, there will be five issues of the Stockton Sentinel in February!

* Groundhog Day was on Friday, February 2nd. Though it is not a federal holiday, since 1887, Americans wait in breathless anticipation for Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania to make his weather prediction on that day. If it’s sunny, and he sees his shadow, it is said that we will see six more weeks of winter. If it is cloudy and he doesn’t see his shadow, it means an early spring.

* Whoever decided to put the first r in February probably also decided how to spell Wednesday.

* When Brittney Mahomes and Taylor Swift wore those way cool puffer jackets designed and made by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of NFL San Francisco 49ers tight end Kyle Juszczyk, I will have to say, I liked Brittney’s hat better!

* If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck…according to Facebook fact-checkers, it is in fact, a squirrel.

* I heard that actor Gary Graham passed away. I loved him as Jimmy Shine in the 1980 movie “The Hollywood Knights.” The movie is set in 1965 on Halloween night and members of the Hollywood Knights—a drag racing club—just found out that their Beverly Hills hangout, Tubby’s Diner, is going to be demolished. I guess the stars of the movie are supposed to be Tony Danza and Michelle Pfeiffer, (to be honest, I didn’t even remember they were in it!) but once you watch the scene with Graham sitting in his car listening to the Mammas and Papas’ song, “California Dreamin’” on a cassette tape, you will know what I am talking about. (It is R rated, I can’t remember a lot of the storyline other than Graham’s, so if you want to check it out, just look up the segment with Gary Graham. That’s all you really need to watch!)

* The cost of a 30-second Super Bowl ad in 1967 was $42,500.00. In 2023, that same ad space was $7,000,000.00!

* Why English is so hard to learn….We must polish the Polish furniture shown at the store.

* It’s Super Bowl weekend! Here is an oldie, but a goodie, for all of you. Flashback to the 1985 Chicago Bears’ “Super Bowl Shuffle!” You will get to see Walter Payton (Sweetness) sing and dance along with the other Bears! It’s on YouTube.

* I don’t care what you call them—Shapermint, Knix, Honeylove, Spanx, etc.—it’s still a girdle.
