“Cabrini” to be shown at Nova Theatre this weekend

The St. Thomas Catholic Church, through donations by the Altar Society, Knights of Columbus and Parish Council, is sponsoring the movie “Cabrini” at the Nova Theatre in Stockton for this weekend, Friday, May 3rd, Saturday, May 4th, and Sunday, May 5th, at 7:00 p.m. each evening. The cost is $5.00 per ticket, and free for children 3 and under.

The movie is about Italian immigrant Francesca Xavier Cabrini, the first American Saint, who arrives in New York City in 1889, and is greeted by disease, crime and impoverished children. She soon sets off on a daring mission to convince the mayor to secure housing and health care for society’s most vulnerable. With broken English and poor health, Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything the world has ever seen.
