Stockton’s fourth-through sixth grade teacher Erica Dryden read about the Midwest Energy Community Fund, which benefits charitable, educational and non-profit organizations in the service area a few years ago when she received a flyer about the program in the mail. Since that time Erica has applied for, and received grants for the students. And this year is no exception when she received her third grant for the purchase of indoor recess games.

Erica applied for the latest grant in September and was awarded $400.00. The funds will go towards the purchase of cornhole bean bag toss games, ladder toss games, Twister games, Simon electronic games, giant checker sets and Picasso Tiles magnetic building sets. Erica stated, “When the Kansas weather keeps us inside for recess, it will be nice for the students to have a variety of fun options to keep them active and enjoying the time with their classmates.”

The Midwest Community Fund awards grants semiannually with March 1st and October 1st the application deadlines for the funding periods.
