(The following article is from the unapproved April 8th Woodston City Council meeting minutes.) The Council of the City of Woodston met in the Council Chamber at the City Hall on Monday, April 8th, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor April Yakish called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

The following article, which appeared in the “Torch,” was sent to the Sentinel by one of its readers. He felt it would be nice to have it published in the Sentinel for the week of Mother’s Day.

The Stockton Methodist Church of Restoration (204 North Elm Street) will present their Vacation Bible School “Shipwrecked & Rescued by Jesus” starting Monday, May 20th. The program is for all children, Pre-K through fifth grade, and will be held from 5:00 p.m.

Doesn’t it feel good to complete a job you have been working on for some time? There is often feelings of relief, satisfaction, self-worth, and maybe even some excitement. Imagine the feeling that Jesus Christ had when his work on earth was finished and he ascended back to heaven.

THE REST OF THE STORY. That was the name of Paul Harvey's radio program back in the day. His short stories usually began with some general information about a person, mentioning only a first name. But then he tied the story into the full name of a well-known person and a little-known truth about them. Long ago, Jesus, too, was known for teaching through stories (parables). We see the parable of the soils in Matthew 13, Mark 4, and Luke 8. Jesus and His disciples are on the north side of the Sea of Galilee, where a 'great multitude' gather around them. It was such a large crowd that Jesus got into a boat, launched out a bit from the shore, sat down, and taught the people many things by parables.

The USD 271 Board of Education will hold a regular meeting on Monday, May 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the District Office.

The 2024-2025 Stockton Junior High Student Council representatives were recently announced. The representatives serving on the board starting next fall are Garrison Mongeau, Harper Lowry, Corbyn Glendening, Remy Muir, Ava McCoy, Grayson Mongeau, Eli Atkisson, Tessa Look, and Omree Dibble.
