She was born on April 4, 1944, to Virgil Y. and Mildred M. (Noland) Nudson in Manhattan. She married Keith L. Carlson on February 14, 1965, in Sedalia. They were blessed with two sons: Cory and Coley.

She was born on November 25, 1919, in Zurich, Kansas, the daughter of Jeremiah and Rosalie (Ducharme) Forgue. She graduated from Palco High School in 1936. In her younger years, she was given the nickname “Finn,” which remained with her throughout life, as nieces and nephews lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Finn."

She was born on April 18, 1939, in Graham County, Kansas, the daughter of George & Anna Mae (Eichman) Martell. She married Melvin J. Dinkel at St. Peter on June 3, 1961. He died on August 10, 2020.

Martha V. Nuckolls, 92, Burdett, passed away on January 27, 2024, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned.

She was born July 22, 1931, in Burdett, the daughter of Kenneth and Lena Blackwell Friend.

A lifetime area resident, she was a secretary and farmwife. She was a member of the Burdett United Methodist Women, Burdett United Methodist Church, where she played the piano, was the choir director, and was a past church board member. Martha was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #280, Sweet Adelines, and was a past school board member for USD 496.

Ada L. (Dougherty) Glick-Wanamaker, 102, of Winfield, Kansas, and formerly of the Russell and Plainville, Kansas, area, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.

Ada was born on January 26, 1922, in the Codell, Kansas area. She was the youngest of nine children to Arthur Louis and Bertha (Camp) Dougherty. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Plainville High School in the Class of 1939.

Rodger Dee "Rod" Taylor

Rodger Dee "Rod" Taylor passed away on January 24, 2024. Rod was born on January 6, 1947, in Hays, Kansas, to Florence (Blauer) Taylor and Bert Taylor. He attended elementary and high school in Plainville, graduating in 1965. Rod was active in sports, student council, and other activities. He graduated in 1969 from the University of Kansas with degrees in mathematics and economics.

Merrell Dewayne Jones

Merrell Dewayne Jones, age 82, of Hot Springs, Ark., passed away January 11, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital following complications from a severe stroke.

He was born August 9, 1941, in Dunklin County, Mo. (Allen's Island). He was the only child of Roy and Effie Minor Jones; he grew up on his father's cotton farm in the bootheel of Missouri.

Merrell graduated from Holcomb High School in May 1959. After an early life-long fascination with airplanes and helicopters, he joined the United States Air Force on September 8, 1959.

Willa M. Hair

Willa M. Hair, 93, passed away on January 19, 2024, at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas.  

She was born on June 14, 1930, in Ransom, Kansas, the daughter of William and Ruth (Stull) Snodgrass.

Willa was a homemaker and farmwife. She married Orville Hair in Brownell, Kansas on September 19, 1948. He died on August 6, 2017.

She was a member of the Ransom Methodist Church and Young at Heart Senior Center in Brownell.
