Richard Duane Finnesy, of Plainville, passed away at Hays Medical Center on November 24th, 2023, at the age of 88.

He was born on June 10, 1935, the second son of Harold and Eleanor (Schrandt) Finnesy in rural Rooks County, Kansas.

Born into a life of hard work on the family farm, Richard's journey began after school to dedicate himself to the family farm. Unfazed by adversity, he weathered the trials and difficulties with unwavering determination.

He married Shirley Mason on July 31, 1953. They were blessed with two children: Dee and Tom.

Maxine Louise Bates

Maxine Bates, 93, passed away on November 17, 2023, at Amelia Senior Living in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where she had lived for two years after moving there from her long-time home in Stockton, Kansas. 

Maxine was blessed with a long life full of energy and love. She made everything she touched more beautiful, and everyone she met feel better.

Former Stockton resident Maxine Louise Bates of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on November 17, 2023, at the Amelia Senior Living in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 93.

She was born on August 3, 1930, to Oscar Van and Verda Edith (Nutt) Greene in Davis County, Iowa. She married Kenneth Lee Bates on September 5, 1948, in Fairfield, Iowa.

Darcy Lynn Wilson

Darcy Lynn Wilson passed away on November 11, 2023, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Abbotsford, British Columbia at the age of 60. 

She was born on November 30, 1962, in Plainville, Kansas, to Jack and Ivalee (Gray) Bennett. She grew up in Stockton, Kansas, and graduated from Stockton High School in 1981.

On November 13, 1999, she was united in marriage to Todd Wilson in Las Vegas, Nevada. Darcy and Todd were blessed with two wonderful sons, Kael and Quinn. The family made their home in Agassiz, British Columbia.

Kenton Lane Saum

Kenton Lane Saum, 60, passed away November 9, 2023, as a result of a house fire at his home in Stockton.

He was born to Donald and Jean Saum of Denver, former Stockton residents, on January 24, 1963. He was raised in Denver and graduated from Alameda High School.

Kenton married Janice Brandon in 1983. They raised two children, Nicole and Ryan (Ellery) Saum, and later divorced.

Kenton was in the electrical industry, working for Qwest Internet and Riveria Electric. He was skilled in installing and repairing high-speed internet throughout the United States.

Darrell L. Small

Darrell L. Small, of Stockton, passed away on November 15, 2023, at the Phillips County Assisted Living Center in Phillipsburg at the age of 86.

He was born on August 13, 1937, in Lebanon, Kansas, and was adopted to Virgil and Phyllis Small and raised by his dear grandma, Anna (Frydendall) Small. He married Margie Weigant on November 14, 1959. They were blessed with two children: Jeffrey and Jodi. Margie passed away in 2013.

Lola M. Hunter

Lola M. Hunter, at age 87, of Larned, went to be with her Lord and her late husband, Elton Hunter, on his 90th birthday, November 13, 2023.

She was born to Paul and Flossie Taylor in Osborne County, Kansas, on November 8, 1936.

She graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1954.

Lola married Elton Hunter on July 24, 1955, at the Glen Elder Methodist Church and made her newlywed home on the Hunter family farm 6.5 miles west of Stockton.

Keith Melvin Reed

Keith Melvin Reed, 76, of Monument, died Monday, November 13, 2023, at the Logan County Hospital in Oakley, Kansas.

He was born January 25, 1947, in Colby, Kansas, to Burtis and Zelma (Bever) Reed.

Keith graduated from Monument High School in 1965, volunteered for the United States Army in 1966, and served two years. Keith served in Ben Hoa, Vietnam, with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Keith was proud of his service to his country.

On February 17, 1968, Keith married Karen Ann Lee, in Oakley. They were blessed with two children, Craig and Lisa.

Robin Lura Bigge-Harris

Graveside Services for Robin Lura Bigge-Harris, age 81, of Independence, Mo., will be held on Monday, November 20, at 1:00 p.m., at Bigge Cemetery.

She passed away on June 26, 2023, at The Grove Senior Living Center in Independence, Missouri.

Robin, the oldest daughter of Kirk and Bethyl Bigge, was born on her family farm in Stockton, Kansas, on September 15, 1941.
