The Rooks County Commissioners recently made the decision to cut back the employee hours to 36 instead of the traditional 40 hours for the remainder of this year and the 2021 year. With this decision, the County will keep the mill levy approximately the same as last year, and in doing so, they do not have to raise taxes during this hard hit economic time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Stockton PRIDE committee meeting was held on Tuesday, September 15th at the Stockton City Office. President Amber Muir called the meeting to order and Kayla Hilbrink gave the Treasurer’s Report. The balance for the organization is $1,108.61 with all bills paid to date.

Mark your calendars for the Stockton PRIDE committee monthly meeting days! They will now be held on the third Tuesday of the month at the Stockton City Hall during the noon hour. The meetings for the remainder of the year are: September 15th, October 20th, November 17th, and December 15th. Hope to see you there!

Stockton’s City-Wide Garage Sale will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 26th. The cost to have your name and address printed on the city map is $10.00 per location. People can sign up at the Stockton Public Library or at the Farmers National Bank until Monday, September 21st by noon. The event is being sponsored by the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Stockton PRIDE monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8th during the noon hour at the Chamber Office. The next Chamber meeting will be held later that evening at Lucky’s Speed Shop at 603 Main Street at 6:15 p.m. for social time and at 6:30 p.m. for the meeting.

The Nova Theatre will be changing to its Fall/Winter showtime schedule this weekend, September 4th to September 7th. Friday, Saturday and Monday showtimes will be at 7:00 p.m. with Sunday changing to the matinee showtime of 2:00 p.m. Showing for a second big week will be “The New Mutants,” rated PG-13, with a running time of one hour and 39 minutes.
